Paste the question, paste your answer, ask 'how is this?' ChatGPT will give you thoughtful feedback. It's actually not bad. Where it wins: free, infinite, no setup. For single-question sanity checks it works. Where it loses: no tracking, no comparison across attempts, no running score, no voice-to-text, no interview context (it does not know what a recruiter at Stripe actually asks). It is a one-shot feedback tool, not a practice system. If you only do one prep thing, this is not the wrong one — but you will plateau fast.

Intervoo for scoring credibility and improvement tracking. Yoodli if your specific problem is delivery (many people's is). ChatGPT is a fine ad-hoc companion. Final Round AI is the weakest here — inflated scoring makes it hard to know if you are actually improving.

Supports system design via voice + coach prompts. The coach nudges you on structural gaps ('you haven't discussed data consistency'). Not a replacement for a whiteboarding session with a peer, but a useful rehearsal. Weakness: no diagramming surface. You describe your design in words, which maps to what you would actually say in an interview but doesn't help you practice the drawing.

Surprisingly the best of the four for technical. You can paste a design, ask it to poke holes, and iterate. It is a legitimate study partner. Not a live practice tool, but excellent for prep.

ChatGPT for deep study, Intervoo for timed rehearsal, neither Final Round AI nor Yoodli add much here.

Detected questions reliably (our test had 14 interviewer questions; detected 13). Streaming latency from question-end to first token of suggested answer averaged 1.8 seconds. Suggestions used the candidate's own resume stories, not generic templates. Critical advantage: Intervoo extracts your STAR stories from your past practice sessions and references them during the real interview. So when the interviewer asks 'tell me about a conflict,' the copilot pulls the story you have already practiced — not a generic one. Weakness: copilot is only as good as your resume upload. If your resume is thin on metrics, your real-time suggestions are thinner.

Detected questions but suggestions were generic and often arrived late. Average question-to-suggestion latency: 3.4 seconds — long enough that by the time the suggestion rendered, we had started answering. Suggestions read like they were written for 'a candidate' not 'you.' We paid for Pro and the copilot still produced a 'tell me about a time you led a team' answer referencing a fictional generic project. This is the category the product is marketed on, and it was the weakest delivery.

ChatGPT: Free tier enough for light use. Plus is $20/mo and gives you the better models. Value rating: for someone with a real interview coming up, Intervoo's free tier actually covers a full prep cycle plus one live copilot session. Final Round AI requires payment before you can meaningfully test the core feature. ChatGPT Plus is the cheapest serious option and works for study, not for live support.
